FAIR RENTS ?

Sir, —I bought a large house to convert into flats, with money hardearned over the years. After completing one flat, I let it, but went no further with the alterations. The tenant was quite agreeable to sign the agreement to pay the rent we decided on, but as soon as he was in possession, he rushed off to the Fair Rents officer to have the rent reduced, which he accomplished, as I believe most of them do. If these unjust laws were removed, persons would be glad to open their homes in these days of high costs, and there would be no shortage. Why are our politicians not interested m this very important matter? This unjust law should be abolished without delay.—Yours, etc., BEWILDERED. June 15, 1954.
