Vice-Regal Entourage.— When the Governor-General (Sir Willoughby Norrie) and his party spent today on a motoring tour of Niue Island, the Administration’s only two motor-cars were used and, in addition, the Niue Police’s “Black Maria.’’ During the tour the Black Prince’s officers rode sedately behind the iron-grill-doors of the “Black Maria.” At each village the Vice-Regal party left their cars and shook hands with the village elders, and school children. The Black Prince officers solemnly stepped out of the “Black Maria” and also shook hands and spoke with the villagers. Then the immaculately uniformed officers climbed back into the van, closed the stout iron-grill doors behind them -and rode on to the- next village. The “Black Maria” was also used to take guests to the Vice-Regal garden party. —Alofi, June IX - ’ • ,
