LABOUR PARTY POLICY
Sir,—“A.F.P.” says two general wage orders aqd one standard wages pronouncement increased wages by 30 per cent, since 1949, and my wages increased by 70 per cent.—a'simple problem to solve. But “A.F.P.” finds it more convenient to side-step and forget the many new awards. One reported in “The Press” of Saturday provides increased wages for a group of workers; and thebe have been many wage increases by agreement in conciliation. My wage of £595 for the year ending March, 1954, includes the latest wage order, dating from September 15, gives me just £l2 a week. What is wrong and funny with that? I am no exception; thousands get the same. Many get more, some get less. The only thing I can see w hich may seem funny is that for the last full year of Labour rule my wage was £6 15s Id a week; now it is £l2 a week.— Yours, etc., 60 YEARS A WORKER. Rakaia, June 14, 1954.
