The Scottish player, John Panton, came right out of the blue to win the “Yorkshire Evening News” £1550 golf tournament with a record-equalling final round at Leeds today. His 72 holes aggregate was 284, giving him a one-stroke victory. The British players, B. Hunt and K. Bousfield, were just pipped by Panton. Bousfield also had a record-equalling 67 in the final round. Only four strokes separated the eight players at tne top.
