HAWERA COUNTY COUNCIL PROTESTS (New Zealand Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, June 10. A protest against the Government’s decision to alter the electoral law to prevent a by-election for the Patea seat vacated recently by Mr W. A. Sheat was made today by the Hawera County Council.

A motion protesting “against the proposal to alter the electoral law and thereby deprive this electorate of representation in Parliament for the remainder of this Parliament” was carried by five votes to two.
