Wes Santee, the foremost United States miler, ran a mile in 4min o.6sec yesterday at Compton, California. The 1500 metre record is now held jointly by Gundar Haegg, Lenhart Strand, and Werner Luegg at 3min 43sec. Santee’s time was 3min 42.8 sec.
