Cambodia Seeking U.S. Arms
LONDON, June 3. Reuter’s correspondent in Geneva says that Cambodia has asked the United States to supply it with arms to repel the Vietminh Communist invaders, it was learned in Geneva today. Usually reliable sources said that talks were in progress both in Geneva and in the Cambodian capital of Pnom Penh. The United States had reacted “favourably,” but considered that any transactions should be handled through France, the sources said. Cambodia maintained, however, that it was fully independent and that France need not enter into the transaction.
