NO SHORTAGES?

Sir, —My letter quoting shortages brought forth a discussion on nylon stockipgs, the general opinion being that they were rubbish. “Pure Silk” hit the nail on the. head when she said it was a case of more profit out of nylons. “Male” quoted a lot about a sellers’ market and there being no demand for silk stockings. He just does not know what he is talking about. If demand is the real issue, what about wheat, eggs, etc., for which there is a greater demand than ever. I also mentioned .the shortage of draught vinegar. The answer to this, of course, is that there is far greater profit selling it in pint bottles. These shortages and others are caused through the greed of private enterprise, which this Government represents.—s Yours, etc., SHORTAGES. June 3, 1954.
