MILK TOKENS

Sir, —Some time ago we purchased a large number of milk tokens, which cost 4J each. Since the recent rise in the cost of milk the vendor of the tokens has informed us that one of these tokens will not buy a pint of milk; a balance of a halfpenny will have to be paid. It would appear that the milkman has actually sold his milk in advance, and we should be pleased to know if he has an implied contract with the holders of these tokens. If so, is he obliged to give us milk at the old price?—Yours, etc., - PROBO. June 3, 1954.
