PEACE TALKS ON INDO-CHINA
Russia And The West Agree On Meeting GENEVA, May 2. Russia and the West agreed today that the Big Four, China, the three Indo-iChinese States and the Vietminh rebel regime should attend the IndoChina peace talks expected to begin in Geneva this week. They also agreed that the composition of the conference could be broadened if these nine nations meeting first unanimously agreed to invite other interested States. This agreement was reached at a meeting between Mr Jean Chauvel and members of the French delegation to the Geneva Conference and the Soviet Deputy Foreign Minister (Mr Gromyko). French sources said there would be further contacts between the Russians and the Big Three Western Powers to decide a date for the openmg talks. The New Zealand Minister of External Affairs (Mr T. C. Webb) said today he may speak before the plenary sessions of the Korea conference — possibly early this week.
