DOUGLAS SOCIAL CREDIT
Sir,—The parrot cry of interest reduction of 51 per cent, to 5 per cent, is just another attempt at misleading. Why not say straight out that the percentage is that of Government income, which in the latter case has been enormously bolstered by oil profits? The same oiliness applies to all social credit propaganda—misleading half-truths. About education, for instance, Solon Low was speaking about social credit. But were the Archbishop and Lord Keynes? I think not. The current crop of educators and institutions of learning are not popular with the social credit advocates; and it is reasonable to suspect that the primary objection is to what is known as “free inquiry,” the privilege of finding out for one’s self and of coming to personal conclusions. The current propaganda was not in circulation over the last 20 years, as most of it refers to oil boom conditions.—Yours, etc., DERCOS. March 26, 1954.
