INDONESIA AND HOLLAND
TALKS SOUGHT ON RELATIONS THE HAGUE, March 24. Indonesia asked the Netherlands today to resume the talks on relations between the two countries. Indonesia has been urging a revision of the Netherlands-Indonesian Union established in 1949, followed by the transfer of sovereignty to Indonesia. The Indonesian Note is believed to contain a reference to the New Guinea dispute between the two countries. The Netherlands has continued to exercise sovereignty over Dutch New Guinea, and Indonesia has continued to claim it as part of Indonesian territory.
