CHINA
Sir, —lt is now evident that “P.J.A.” cannot bear criticism. After roundly condemning “The Press’s” leading article on China, he now writes a plaintive complaint because his own effusion was criticised. How illogical! “P.J.A.” should realise that anything connected with communism must be regarded with the gravest suspicion, simply because it is a fanatical creed. History has proved that fanatics will use anything—lies, slander, torture—to help them on the march to power. Recent events provide two outstanding examples—Stalin and Hitler, and now coming into the limelight, Senator McCarthy of the United States. Personally, I think Mr Dayis’s request is fair, reasonable and logical.—Yours, etc., „ KIWI. March 24, 1954.
