VANDALISM AT WOODEND

A brass plaque set in a concrete cairn at Woodend commemorating the first official scout camp held in New Zealand has been torn out and snapped in half by vandals. The cairn was unveiled during the recent scout jamborette at Motukarara by Mr J. Bennie, of Kaiapoi, in a ceremony attended by scouts from many parts 01 the Pacific area. It is not yet Certain if the plaque can be welded or if a new one will have to be made.
