TOWNSWOMEN’S GUILD MEETS

Mrs B. Hayes presided at the annual meeting of the Beckenham Townswomen s Guild, and welcomed visitors and new members. The Dominion vicepresident (Mrs Plumridge) was presented with a spray.

Reports on circle activities were read by Mrs W. Logan (area). Mrs Thompson (gardening). Mrs R. Allison (choir), Mrs A. Bootten (arts and crafts), Mrs C. Ironside (civic), and Mrs Wright (drama). Mrs Wright also read a letter from the link guild. Tolworth, England, and the secretary read letters from the guild’s sponsored child in Milan. Mrs Plumriage, on behalf of Dominion headquarters, congratulated the guild on its sound position, and Mrs Ironside, on behalf of the members, thanked the officers for their

A duet was sung by Mesdames R. Allison and W. Grieve, with Mrs C. Richards as accompanist. The election of officers resulted as follows: president, Mrs B. Hayes; vicepresidents, Mrs Thompson (one to be appointed); honorary secretary. Mrs I. Lester; honorary treasurer, Mrs J. Steinmetz; reporter, Mrs L. H. McCalman; committee, Mesdames C. Ironside. W. Logan, W. Grenfell, V. Moir. C. Read. J. McWhirter, and A. Bootten. Prizes won on toe year’s aggregate were as follows; —Guild: Mrs Heywood 1, Mrs Comfort 2; arts and crafts, Mrs Schwass 1, Mrs Wright 2.
