VISIT OF SCOUT LEADER
ADDRESS BY MR JOHN THURMAN
The world brotherhood of scouts, numbering about 6,000.000 in every country of the free world, was a power for peace, said the world trying leader of the, Boy Scouts’ Asso*iation (Mr John Thurman), addressfrig a meeting of scooters in Christchu’ch on Saturday evening. This could be dearly seen at Gilwell Park, the international training centre, where since World War 11, men and women from more than 80 countries had come *6 take part in training courses, he sardMr Thurman also spoke c* Gilwell training courses .he had organised in other parts of tbie world (intfuding one inside the Arctic Circle in uanada and another in Basutoland). Het-Iso showed a colour film of life at Gilwell Park. A conference of scouten responsible for trainip# was held at Cracroft House, Cashmere, dunyg the weekend, and a scouts’ service was held yesterday morning. M' Thurman left after the service for Punedin to conclude his tour of New Zealand. He will return to Australia at the end of the month, and will then fly to England by way of North Afherica.
