10 p.c. Rise This Year (N.Z. Press Association— Copyright) (Rec. 8 pan.) PARIS, December 15. Defence expenditures in all North Atlantic Treaty countries m 1953 will total 65,500,000,000 dollars—nearly 10 per cent, above the 1952 figure, it was officially announced today.

The N.A.T.O. Council approved the build-up for next year, providing for an increase of about 25 per cent, in the Air Force, lo per cent m the Navy and 5 per cent, in major Army units over this year’s figures.
