N.Z. COMMITMENTS NEXT SEASON
81 PLAYERS CHOSEN FOR TRAINING (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, December 16. Eighty-one Rugby League players in New Zealand have been asked to get fit during the summer for next season. The Rugby League has prepared a training programme with conditioning exercises. The Dominion selectors have chosen for the course 42 men from Auckland, 12 from the West Coast, 10 from Canterbury, 13 from Wellington, two from Taranaki, and two from South Auckland. Next year the British team will visit New Zealand and in October a New Zealand side will compete in the World Cup event in France. In the following season a French team is to visit New Zealand, and at the end of the year New Zealanders will their four-yearly tour of Britain and France. Southern players chosen for the course are:— West Coast.—G. Menzies. W. McLennan, R. Nielson, F. Mulcare, F. Hassan, I. Hay, A. Walton, R. Finn, W. Pascoe, I. King, E. Guthberlet, R. Broome. Canterbury.—J. Haig, C. Paskell, T. Kilkelly, J. Bond, A. Atkinson, L. Blanchard, J. Butterfield, J. Rutherford, K. Roberts, W. McSeveney. Wellington.—H. Kreyl, J. Dodds, K. English, S. Hurndell, P. Fox, K. Ropata, J. Wilson, P. Coffey, B. Webb, L. Kipa, P. Anquetil, B. Williams, F. Mallinder. Taranaki.—R. McKay, B. Martin. South Auckland.—W. Paki, T. Hardwick.
