PROPOSED CHEVIOT LICENCE

COMMITTEE FAVOURS TRUST The application of the Cheviot County Council for a licence at Cheviot to be conducted by a trust to be formed for the purpose has been supported by the Hurunui Licensing ComSittee, which dealt with the applicaon and one by Mrs Martha Alice Shaw at a sitting in Rangiora on December 4. The decision was as follows: “After 'a full discussion on submissions and the evidence with particular reference to voting on the proposal of a trust intended to be formed it was resolved that there are no special circumstances in which it is desirable in the public interest that the licence should be granted to Mrs Shaw, and accordingly that pursuant to section of the Licensing Amendment Act, 1948 (as amended by section 31 of the Licensing Act (No. 2), 1953, the intended trust is entitled to the licence applied for by the Cheviot County Council and accordingly the ,committee determines that the premises proposed to be erected at Cheviot on behalf of a trust are the premises for which it considers the licence should be granted.

At the sitting Mr C. S. Thomas appeared for the Cheviot County Council and Mr R A. Young for Mrs Shaw.
