RADIO-TELEPHONE CALLS
HOLIDAY DEMANDS ON HIMATANGI (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 16. The radio-telephone circuit through the new station at Himatangi is fully booked till after January 5. Bookings for these calls are much heavier than in previous years, when radio-telephone communication was through Australia. More than 150 private calls have been booked for Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day, and January 2. In addition, the British Broadcasting Corporation has booked 40 calls during this period for Royal tour broadcasts. Most of the calls are for persons in Britain, though a number are by Dutch settlers who wish to speak to relatives in their homeland. There are also one or two bookings for calls to other Continental countries.
