ESTUARY DREDGE POWER

SUB STATION NOT READY UNTIL 1956

The new sub-station of the State Hydro-electric Department at Bromley, from which power for the dredge to be operated by the Christchurch Drain- i age Board on the Estuary will be supplied, is not expected to be ready until 1956. Commenting on this advice from the department in a report to last evening’s meeting of the Drainage Board, the works committee said: "In view of the possible difficulty in obtaining a satisfactory supply of power for the dredge until this sub-station is in operation, the committee recommends that the urgency of the matter from the board's point of view be reiterated to the State Hydro-electric Department.” The recommendation was adopted.
