PRIVATE HOTEL TARIFFS
INCREASE OF THREE PER CENT. GRANTED “The Press" Special Service
AUCKLAND. December 15. Private hotels throughout New Zealand have been granted an increase of 3 per cent, on existing tariffs. Rates for private hotels charging 25s or more a day have gone up Is, and tariffs of hotels charging under 25s have gone up 6d. The increases do not apply to licensed hotels. They are calculated to enable proprietors to recover about three-quarters of the recent wage increase.
In addition, an increase in charges for Christmas and New Year's Day dinners at the 20 private hotels in Rotorua has been approved by the Price Tribunal.
The increased charges apply to both house and casual guests and range from 10s to £1 Is for the dinners, according to the grade of hotel The rate for casual guests is greater.
