FUTURE STATUS OF MALTA

OUTLINE OF PLANS EXPECTED

(Rec. 11 p.m.) LONDON, December 2. The Colonial Secretary (Mr Oliver Lyttelton) is expected to give some outline of hitherto secret plans for the future status of Malta in the House ot Commons today, when a question will be asked on the Colonial Office’s reply to proposals submitted by Malta’s Prime Minister (Dr. G. Borg-Olivier). For a long time Dr. Olivier has been pressing for colonial status for the "George Cross Island,” and the Opposition Leader (Dr. D. Mintoff) has advocated instead a plan wherein Malta would come under the British Home Office, like the Isle of Man.
