TWO MORE AIR RACE RECORDS

The Royal Aero Club announced today that the International Aeronautical Federation had confirmed two more records established during the London-Christchurch air race. The first was for Flight Lieutenant R. L. E. Burton, piloting a Canberra Mark 111, who flew the official record distance from London to Christchurch in 23hr 50min 42sec at a speed of 494.5 miles an hour. The second record was for the trip between London and Melbourne. Captain W. Baillie, flying a British European Airways Vickers Viscount, flew the official distance in 35hr 46min 47.65ec at a speed of 293.6 miles an hour.
