GOLDEN WEDDING
THE REV. AND MRS EDWARD DUNSTAN
The Rev. Edward Dunstan and Mrs Dunstan have spent a lifetime in South Africa, but they celebrated their golden wedding in Christchurch yesterday. It is 58 years since Mr Dunstan first went to South Africa as a missionary. During the Boer War hei was a chaplain to the forces. Then, after returning to England to marry.| he went back as a minister of the! Methodist Church in v/hich he has given distinguished service. Although; Mr Dunstan retired 10 years ago, he I has since had charge of two churches' in Pretoria. Mr Dunstan is now 83 and his wife 79.
Mr and Mrs Dustan made a scenic tour of New Zealand in 1938-39 and took back to South Africa a large collection of coloured slides with which they lectured about the Dominion. On that visit they were accompanied by their elder son, Theo, and their daughter. Wendy. Their golden wedding was spent with their only relatives in New Zealand. Mr and Mrs Harold Martin of Matai street. Riccarton. Mr Martin is Mrs Dunstan’s nephew. Scores of greetings were received from abroad. Another celebration among relatives was being arranged in South Africa by Miss Wendy Dunstan. Mr and Mrs Dunstan will leave for South Africa on December 17 in the Dominion Monarch.
