PITCAIRN ISLANDERS’ WELCOME

CHIEF MAGISTRATE ON WAY TO FIJI (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 1. Mr John Christian, chief magistrate' of Pitcairn Island, and a descendant of the leader of the Bounty mutineers, arrived with Mrs Christian today from Pitcairn Island. He will leave Auckland by flyingboat for Fiji, where he will welcome the Queen on behalf of the residents of Pitcairn. Mr Christian, who today was welcomed by his brother, Mr B. Christian, of Wellington, has gifts of Pitcairn handicrafts for presentation to the Queen. The Governor of Fiji is responsible for the administration of Pitcairn and nearby islands.
