GOLDEN WEDDING

MR AND MRS L. P. TAYLOR 11 Mr and Mrs L. P. Taylor, of Moor- i house avenue, who will celebrate their • golden wedding anniversary today, were married at the Linwood Salvation Army Citadel, by Major J. Cain. A family party to celebrate the occas- ( ion will be held at the home of their . nephew and his wile, Mr and Mrs L. W. Warren. Whaka crescent, Hunts- 1 bury, this evening. Among the guests . will be Mrs W. Aldwin, of Linwood, Mrs Taylor’s sister, and bridesmaid. Mr Taylor is the sixth son of Mr and Mrs Hugh Taylor, Tuam street, Linwood. and Mrs Taylor is the third daughter of Mr and Mrs James Newton, also of Linwood. For many, years Mr Taylor visited the children's ward at the Christchurch Public Hospital, where he organised concerts for the small patients. He has been a member of the staff of “The Press” for 61 years, and began work as a message boy when the company’s office was in Cashel street. Later he became a compositor, and for 29 years operated a monotype machine. Mr Taylor is now employed in the commercial office during the evenings, a position he has held for the last 19 years. Mr Taylor has always been keenly interested in the staff’s social activities. and in bis younger days was a member of both the cricket and football teams.
