U.N. TRUSTEESHIP COUNCIL

MR MUNRO REPORTS ON PROGRESS

(Rec. 8 p.m.) NEW YORK, Nov. 23. Mr L. K. Munro, president of the United Nations Trusteeship Council, told the Trusteeship Committee of the General Assembly that there had been steady and sure progress in all trust territories since the signing of the Charter.

Mr Munro, who was presenting the report of the Trusteeship Council, said that searching, conscientious and careful consideration had been given by the council to the examination of petitions from trust territories. He added that although the progress might not seem much when viewed from year to year, the people of trust territories were incomparably better off than they were seven years ago. “In due time, and with our help, they will take control of theip own destiny,” he said.
