WALLACE AND SCOTT NOT AVAILABLE (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. November 24. Two of Auckland’s top cricketers, the former New Zealand test batsmen, W. M. Wallace and V. J. Scott, are not available for the Plunket Shield team this season. Their absence gives youth its chance, and in the 18 players selected for representative training to begin at Eden Park on Thursday are two secondary schoolboys. They are J. Campbell, a fast bowler from the Seddon Memorial Technical College, and a batsman, D. Harding, from Mount Albert Grammar School. NORTH CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION The following were the scores in matches-played in the North Canterbury Cricket Association's competitions on Saturday : . Senior A Amberley 50 and 192 (Boyce 78, M. Saunders 69, J. Thompson 11; Coleman four for 32, R. Cherry three for 44) lost to Kajapoi 220 and 23 for three (J. Martin 11 not out). Kaiapoi won with seven wickets in hand. Rangiora 143 (G. Withers 16, D. Hawkins 36, F. Devlin 20, N. Gibson 10, J. Sail 16; S. Smith two for 21, Robertshaw two for 12) and 30 for three wickets (Withers 10 not out) beat Woodend 58 and 105 (R. Smith 57, Robertshaw 26, Southen 11; Snellex two for 30) by seven wickets. Senior B Eyreton 143 (I. Adams 25, R. Bennett 25, L. Bailey 14, R. Phillips not out 42, J. Hancock 20; Beams ley 6 for 33, B. Blunden two for 36) drew with Amberley 57 for five (A. Bailey 12 not out, R. McDonald 11 not out; B. Giles two for 12). Swannanoa 98 (Frizzell 14, Fraser 61; Scherger two for 20 lost to Rangiora High School Old Boys 147 (Milne 37, Scherger 10, Smith 45, Chippendale 30; O’Laughlin two for 40, Fraser two for 29, Carpenter three for 35). Rangiora High School Old Boys won by 49 runs. Loburn 77 (Watson 18, Telford 16, Law 21; Morris two for 21, Carlyon two for 9, Pearson three for 18, Palmer two for 0) lost to Rangiora 140 (Pearson 55, Webb 26, Morris 20, Hawkins 17; Hamilton two for 29, Law six for 54). Rangiora won by 63 runs. Southbrook 194 for nine wickets declared (R. Vickery 10, J. Morris 32, J. McClung 38, C. Pulley 49, E. Barnes 25, J. Watson 13, J. Burney not out 12; C. Reid three for 52, J. Ainger two for 68, B. Gainsford two for 45) drew with Cust 135 for three (Reid 31, Gainsford 52, A. Mathews not out 43; Burney two for 8).
Junior Stewart’s Gully 53 (G. Cosgrove 18, A. Ormandy 16; Milner five for 24) and 26 (Maitland four for 9, Buckingham five for 16) lost by an innings to Rangiora High School 135 for seven wickets declared (Milner 102 not out, Buckingham 11; A. Ormandy four for 45, L. Ormandy two for 18).
