FRANCE AND THE SAAR
RATIFICATION OF AGREEMENTS
P- m -) PARIS, November 19. The Council of the Republic (the Upper House of the French Parliament) today passed the bill ratifying the French and Saar agreements by 297 votes to 16.
Only the Communist senators voted against the bill, which was already passed by the National Assembly, and' now goes to the President (Mr Vincent Aunol) for his signature The general agreement and seven sp ® ela l agreements between France and the Saar Government give the Saar greater freedom while maintain-j ing its economic union with France and paving the way for the Saar to become a European territory.
