CHRISTMAS AIRMAILS FOR OVERSEAS
CLOSING DATES NEXT MONTH
Information on the times of closing for overseas Christmas airmails was given by the Chief Postmaster (Mr H. R. Pool) yesterday. “Overseas Christmas airmails are expected to be heavy this year because of air parcel and second class letter mail rates now available,” he said. ‘.‘Unsealed Chkistmas cards for the United Kingdom cost lOd a half-dunce, and they should be posted before December 14. Air Christmas cards for Australia cost 3d a. half-ounce and air parcels 2s 6d for each eight ounces. They should be posted before December 18. Early posting is advisable for all overseas second-class airmails. “Christmas airmails flown from New Zealand to Australia between December 17 and 24 last year by Tasman Empire Airways totalled more than nine tons. But the Post Office expects much greater quantities this year/* Mr Pool said.
