SMALL FIRE IN THEATRE
Very little damage was done by a small fire in some felt backstage in the Majestic Theatre, Manchester street, last evening. Four units from the central station answered a call received by the Christchurch Fire Brigade at 8.10 p.m., and extinguished the fire before it could spread. Slight damage to the outside weatherboarding of a house at 14 Peacock street, occupied by Louie Jane Guy, was done by a small fire yesterday morning. ’ The brigade was called at 9.14 a.m., and two units from the central station responded.
A call was received at 9.6 a.m. to 53 Rosebery street, Spreydon, where a motor-cycle owned by Mr J. G. Phillips was on fire. Some damage was done to the machine before an engine from Sydenham- put the fire out. The brigade was called again at 5.8 p.m. to a fire in a rubbish dump in Muirson avenue, owned by the Heathcote County Council. A unit from the central station attended. No damage was done.
