ELECTION IN SUDAN
Egypt Replies To Mr Eden
(Rec. 8 p.m.) CAIRO, November 7. The Egyptian Prime Minister (General Naguib) today described the statement by the Foreign Secretary (Mr Eden), in the House of Commons on the Sudanese Elections as the death rattle of British and Egyptian negotiations. \ “It is the British, not the Egyptians, who are interfering in the Sudanese elections,” he said. Mr Eden was well aware that Egypt has no official in the Sudan and that the whole authority there was in British hands. “Imperialism is now trying to weaken our determination to achieve the aims of revolution in liberating Egyptian Sudan from the evil of occupation.” General Naguib said Mr Eden's statement had another aim. The British Government wanted to draw the blinds down on talks about the future of the Suez Canal Base. The British people were anxious and Mr Eden hoped by his statement to silence them. “Two months ago I said th* delay in the talks was due to the British belief that if the Suez Canal issue was settled it would encourage the supporters of unity with Egypt in the Sudan to continue their efforts. Ihe struggle of the Egyptians and the Sudanese is a struggle for justice and freedom.” > General Naguib, who declared that Mr Eden had made "fabricated statements” on the Sudan, called on the > Egyptian nation to close its ranks, “until we attain final victory." “The enemy” was doing all in his power to find a gap in Egypt's ranks, but “he will never succeed as long as we are vigilant and carry out our duty and so long as we do not abandon the unity which is the strongest weapon in our hands.” General Naguib added: “The enemy has incited its pampered child, Israel, agaifist us. But we thank Israel because, being a painful cancer in the body of Arabism, she continually warns Arabism of the impending threat.” „ The Egyptian Vice-Premier (Lieu-tenant.-Cofonel Gamal Abdel Nasser) told a “Liberation Rally” at Dessuk, in Lower Egypt, that Egyptians will continue on the road to independence “until the imperialist leaves our territory.” Colonel Nasser told the crowd: “We do not want you to shout and say ‘No evacuation without blood,’ and then to find neither evacuation nor blood.”
