REFUGEES FROM GERMANY
Appeal To British Industrialists (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, November 4. Lord Birdwood, chairman of the Refugee European Emergency Fund, has appealed to British industrialists to help to equip refugee workshops in Germany from which refugee boys may emigrate to Australia, Canada and South America. Lord Birdwood asked the industrialists to forget any prejudice they may have against Germany, because if the refugees were not helped their camps would be a breeding ground for communism.
Speaking at a private meeting in the House of Lords. Lord Birdwood said the fund, which was founded a year ago, plans to expand the boys’ trainings camp at Friedensdorf, near Nuremburg. The city of Nuremburg, aided by the Norwegian Government, would 'build the camp, but £lO,OOO was needed to -equip the workshops. The camp now houses 95 boys, and would hold 235 when completed.
