DANGER OF WAR “RECEDING”

VIEW OF JAPANESE PRIME MINISTER

(Rec. 9 p.m.) TOKYO, November 5. The Japanese Prime Minister (Mr Shigeru Yoshida) said today that the danger of war was receding in Asia as the result of the “attitude of compromise” adopted by the Soviet Union since death.

Speaking to a Budget meeting of the Diet (Lower House), Mr Yoshida said one indication of this was the conclusion of the Korean truce.

West European nations also appeared willing to ease international tension through talks with the Kremlin, but the United States wanted first to ascertain the Soviet Union’s sincerity in its desire for peace,” he added.
