CANTERBURY LOSES TO OTAGO
J. G. SCOTT PLAYS GOOD ROUND
"The Press’’ Special Service DUNEDIN, November 1. In an interprovincial golf match played at Balmacewan during the week-end, Otago beat Canterbury 14 matches to 4. The course, even from the championship tees, was playing short, and long-hitters had a decided advantage. Canterbury won only one foursome in the morning; and, of the 12 singles matches, it won three. The best performance by a Canterbury player was J. G. Scott, in his match against N. H. North, whom he beat, 5 and 4. At the end of this game, Scott was two strokes belter than the scratch score, and he completeci the *ound in an approximate 70. Results (Otago names first): —
Singles.—Gibbs beat James, 4 and 2; Durry beat Watson, 6 and 5; Boyd beat Cromb, 2 and 1; Timms lost to Lewis, 2 and 1; Tyrrell beat Fowke, 3 and 2; ColquhGun beat McKechnie, 3 and 2; North lost to Scott, 5 and 4; Ford lost to Lawrence, 1 down; Scouler beat Martin, 3 and 2; Ferguson beat Appleton, 1 up; Rackley beat Ramsay, 1 up; Evans beat Roberts, 2 and 1.
