YOUNG MAN TO FACE TRIAL LONDON, September 18. Alfred Charles Whiteway, aged 22, a labourer, was committed for trial today for the “towpath” murders of two girls, Barbara Songhurst, aged 16, and Christine Redd, 18, at a Thames riverside beauty spot in May.
