Leading Australian Traiher Arrested

The polite last hight arrested a leading horse trainer at the Canterbury racetourse, Gordon Ray* aged 37, and charged him with conspiring with Reginald Aubrey Doyle and two other men to dope racehorses. A second man, Jack Sharpe, a former head foreman fdr Ray, was also arrested and similarly charged. A warrant has been issued for a third man who is in the country, and a warrant for the arrest of Doyle, who is serving a 10 years sentence in Long Eay Gaol for forgery, Will hot be executed until the case is almost ready to proceed. • Detectives have been investigating the alleged doping of racehorses in New South Wales since April 0. Their investigations have been carried out with the greatest secrecy and have taken them to a humber df country towns. They have consulted analysts, drug and bther experts, and have interviewed dozens of racing mtn. The arrested men will appear in COurt today and it is understood that the police will ask for a remand fdr at least a month. Tlie horse mentioned ih the Charge is Buccaneer* which formerly ran in the nomination of Mrs R. Doyle. .
