COST OF LIVING

Sir,—-‘*4o Years a Worker” doubts my statements about the extra cost of living since the National Party took office. Some of the items I mentioned can be checked by reading the little booklet (page 10) issued by the National Party when Labour was in office, called “Family Affair.” Bread delivered cost me Is 2d under Labour; it now costs Is 6d. Because of the high cost of potatoes, etc., which we cannot dfford to buy, we use six loaves a week at 4d extra—2s a week. The other items are just as easy to explain, but a person with ordinary intelligence could fathom it for himself if he used an unbiased mind. — Waimate, September 16, 1953.
