COUNCIL OF WOMEN
CHRISTCHURCH BRANCH MEETS
Reports on the recent meeting of the Dominion executive of the New Zealand National Council of Women in Wellington were given by Miss H. K. Lovell-Smith and Miss K. O’Connor at the monthly meeting ®f the Christchurch branch of the council last evening. Details of the plans made by the branch to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of the granting of the franchise to women in New Zealand were announced by Miss Lovell-Smith. She appealed to members and their friends to support a public meeting to be held on the afternoon of September 28.
After a discussion on correspondence received from the Canterbury centre of the New Zealand branch of the Royal Sanitary Institute, it was decided that Mrs G. W. Fairweather and Miss M. G. Havelaar should represent the branch at the cehtre’s meetings. Mrs Fairweather and Miss Havelaar reported that they had attended a meeting of the centre, and felt that the business discussed was of interest to the branch. A talk on the work of the Women’s section of the Air Force Association was given by Miss Joan Dunkley.
