N.Z. MEAT FOR GERMANY
Shipment Sent By Britain
LONDON. September 18. A shipment of 3000 tons of New Zealand meat has been sent to Hamburg for storing by the Ministry of Food. A Ministry spokesman said this step was necessary because of shortages of cold storage space in Britain while the season for killing home-produced meat is at its height. He added that there was a “limited programme” of storing Dominion meat in Germany which is likely to last for a short period only. It is some three or four weeks ago since the Ministry of Food asked New Zealand and Australia to delay shipments of meat to Britain in view of the lack of storage space here.
