B.H.P. PROFIT UP TO £2,364,096 TAX PROVISION NEARLY DOUBLED (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, July 17. The directors of the Broken Hill Proprietary Company, Ltd., today announced a net profit of £3,364,096 for the year ended May 31—£ 1,444,468 from, trading and £919,628 from general investments and subsidiaries.
This compares with a profit of £1,957,011 for 1952.
Last year’s profit remained after lifting tax provision by £1,075,000 to £2.350,000 and depreciation charge by £330,191 to £1,457,809. The year’s dividend is unchanged at 8J per cent.
Australian Consolidated Industries.— Dividend recommendations are 41 per cent, on old ordinary shares, making 9 per cent, for the year, and 5| per cent, on the new issue. These dividends are payable on September 30.—(P.A.)
