LAWN TENNIS

FUTURE OF JUNIOR ASSOCIATION

The future of the Canterbury Junior Lawn Tennis Association was discussed in committee at a meeting last evening of the management committee of the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association.

The meeting was held as a result of a discussion at a meeting of the committee last month, when a letter suggesting that the junior association should go into recess was received from the chairman of the junior association (Mr A. V. Barley). Mr Barley said that lack of support from the clubs was a continued source of difficulty in the junior body’s work. He suggested that the junior association's activities should be taken over by subcommittees of the senior association.

It was agreed that immediately after the management committee of the senior body had discussed Mr Barley's suggestion a conference of the committees of both bodies would be held.
