MEAT BOARDS
Sir.—With many others, I would like to get a few brief statements from someone who really does know, concerning meat boards. First, what is toe method employed in the election of these boards, and what is the qualification for voting? Second, what does the board’s authority amount to, and how far does it extend? Would it not be in the best interests of the flock and herd-owners of New Zealand to have the present meat boards abolished? Any individual explanation beforehand of why and how things are proposed to be done is never given. A major industry of New Zealand deserves more than that! But ft sometimes happens—even in business—that there is a randomness underlying things which suits some people—the idea of something for nothing. This runs in all shapes and sizes, but is really only piracy in disguise.—Yours, etc., ATOMISER. June 23. 1953.
