EAST GERMAN CHARGE
BERLIN, June 22. East German Communist leaders alleged today that foreign aircraft had parachuted armed groups of bandits into East Germany. A declaration by the central committee of the East German Socialist Unity Party said that a large number of provocateurs had been arrested.
It described the present situation in the Soviet zone as follows: “There is calm in East Germany. Normal work is being carried on, but the calnj is by no means ydt complete. The enemy continues his instigations. Foreign aeroplanes parachuted, as on previous days, armed groups of bandits in Thueringen, Sachsen,-.and Onhalt, and other places. A large number of provocateurs have been arrested.” The statement said that the authorities had captured lorries loaded with weapons on the Leipzig-Berlin autobahn. The West German Chancellor (Dr. Adenauer), the Social Democrat leader (Mr Erich Ollenhauer), the Minister of All-German Affairs (Mr Jacob Kaiser), and the Lord Mayor of West Berlin (Dr. Ernst Reuter) were held responsible for “personally directing the work of the bandits.”
