The Garter star glittered against the scarlet and a row of medals shone on her breast. Her long riding skirt was dark blue. As the Queen rode into the parade ground there was a great burst of cheering. With her right hand raised firmly in salute, she sat motionless while the band played “God Save the Queen.” Her horse was also like a statue, not even nodding its head. The parade was held on the Queen’s official birthday, which is being celebrated in Britain today.
