STOCK EXCHANGES STEADY MARKETS PREVAIL Steady markets prevailed on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday. A fair volume of diversified business was put through, with only one loss, and’ that a fractional one on a reported sale of Fletcher Holdings at 27s 6d. A little more confidence was displayed in the Government stock section, with the return of buyers who outnumbered sellers, and in one or two instances their limits were raised slightly. . Goldsbrough, Mort rights were in relatively keen demand at the steady price of 6s. Most frozen meat issues were fractionally stronger. Woollens continued their buoyancy on quotation. Booth, Macdonalds had fractionally better buyers. Woolworths, Ltd., sold unchanged at 14s 3d, with further buyers at that figure, sellers asking 14s 6d. There were unsupported sellers of Woolworths, N.Z., at. the slightly lower price of 19s lOd. Coles were weaker on quotation, buyers reducing their offers to 14s, with sellers holding out for 14s 3d. There were again no sellers for National Electric, which have been in demand of late at rising quotations.
