HYPNOTISM
Sir, —Dr. Bevan-Brown is to be commended for his remarks concerning hypnotism in this enlightened society, but I would have liked him to denounce hypnotism used in any form whatsoever. We should avoid it as we do poison. The scientific reason is that our spirit is perfectly adjusted to the human form, exactly in place, every part of the spirit firmly adhered to the human replica. A hypnotist (there should be no such species) works on a human’s spirit and dislodges it from the human form. Thus he is able to control the human mind. The person is fortunate if the spirit returns normally to its correct position—some do not for some time or perhaps never, causing chaotic mental conditions and hallucinations. I strongly condemn-the use of hypnotism in any form, especially in childbirth and medical treatment.—Yours, etc..
