INTOXICATED MOTORIST

PRISON FOR THIRD OFFENCE (New Zealand Prers Association) WHAKATANE, May 14. A man who in the previous two and a half years had twice been convicted at Waihi of intoxication while in charge of a car was todays convicted in the Whakatane Magistrate’s Court of a similar offence and sentenced to a month’s imprisonment. In addition, he was fined £2 for driving without a licence. Clifford Norman Parker, a labourer, aged 30, pleaded guilty, and admitted that in October, 1950, at Waihi, he was fined £lO and disqualified for a year for intoxication in charge of a car, and that in September last, also at Waihi, he was fined £5 and disqualified for three yeai-s ’for a similar offence.
