STERLING FUNDS HIGHER Sterling exchange funds of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand continue to be maintained at a high and increasing level. A further gain of £778,000 was recorded during the week ended May 6, bringing the fund up to little short of £60.000,000. Comparative weekly returns are:—

VEGETABLES AND FRUIT

Limes, a fruit which has been off the market for years, is now available, a consignment having arrived from Niue Island. With the exception of onions and potatoes, all vegetables are in good supply. The Maui Pom are is due in New Zealand on Friday with oranges for the South Island. South African oranges should come to hand early next month. Bananas are due by the Matua about May 20.
